How we support students with special needs
The Act for Eliminating Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities was enacted in April 2012, prohibiting unjust discriminatory treatment on the basis of disability at institutions of higher education while also requiring the removal of social barriers and the provision of reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities.
Academic support for students with disabilities is typically provided upon request from the student(or their caregiver). Decisions on the type of support are made with the full agreement and understanding of the student receiving them(or their caregiver).
AUA has defined requirements for the appropriate handling of students with disabilities by its faculty members and others in accordance with the Act for Eliminating Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities.
